Beyond Labels: Navigating DLD and Dyslexia Comorbidity in Educational Practice

Thursday, October 16, 2025

6:00 - 8:00 pm EDT

Hybrid Event

The Office of Alumni Relations, Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders, and the SAiL Literacy lab invite you to an evening of networking and learning in recognition of Developmental Language Disorder Day and Dyslexia Awareness Month.

The panel discussion will examine Developmental Language Disorder (DLD) and Dyslexia in educational settings, with particular focus on when these conditions co-occur. Expert panelists will guide attendees through foundational knowledge of each condition, comparative analysis of their overlapping and distinct features, and the complexities of comorbid presentations.

The session emphasizes practical application, covering evidence-based intervention strategies and educational accommodations for both individual and co-occurring conditions. Interactive elements include case study discussions and audience Q&A, making this relevant for SLPs, educators, and support staff working with students and clients who have language and literacy challenges.
